‘Sanxia Ai’ gets flurry of orders for Qianhua embroidery products

As the Lunar New Year approaches, embroiderers at the "Sanxia Ai" hand embroidery base in Xujiachong village of Yichang City are hard at work to meet a surge in demand.
The base has seen a substantial increase in daily orders—with 600-700 orders in one day not uncommon, said base manager Zhu Xuemei. Most of these orders are for Year of the Dragon products such as small dragon bags, dragon head hats, and waking lion hats. The products are delivered nationwide.
“Sanxia Ai” came into existence following a workshop in 2013. It specializes in Qianhua embroidery products, a local intangible cultural heritage.
Founded and mainly run by women, the entrepreneurship program has trained over 300 women, providing them with an economic boost and stability.
In recent years, the embroidery base has expanded its workshop space from 200 to 1200 square meters and now has over 100 employees. In 2019, sales revenue soared to nearly 20 million yuan.
“We averaged 300 orders a day in 2023, which translates into an annual disposable income of approximately 40,000 yuan for each embroiderer," said Zhu.
