Three Gorges Dam shipping hits new record

The shipping throughput of the Three Gorges Dam set a new record in 2023 with 174 million tons, a year-on-year increase of more than 8.77 percent.

The five-tier ship locks were used 11,066 times in 2023 to generate a throughput of 169 million tons, the ship lift was used 4,614 times with a throughput of about 4.79 million tons and there were over 2.2 million tourist trips to the site.
