Yichang Sanxia Airport breaks ‘3 million’ threshold

2023 passenger throughput at Yichang Sanxia Airport reached 3.003 million on 29 December.
The airport broke the 3 million passengers a year threshold once before, in 2019, before the pandemic hit.
The airport opened or restored routes with nine destinations this year, including Lhasa, Sanya and Bangkok. There are more flights to popular destinations, such as Beijing and Guangzhou. The number of flights to key cities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen remain stable at two to three flights per day.
In 2023, Yichang Sanxia Airport operated a total of 51 routes and reached 51 destinations.
The airport’s flight network now covers 27 provinces.
On July 13, after successfully passing national inspection, Yichang airport became the second airport in Hubei province to be fully opened to the outside world.
September 20 witnessed another milestone with the first international "Dalian-Yichang-Bangkok" flight.
Looking ahead, Yichang Sanxia Airport intends to develop other international and regional routes, further opening the city to the outside world.
