Zhaojun International Ski Resort in Zhenzi Township of Xingshan County welcomed 2,200 visitors on its opening weekend, generating over 330,000 yuan (US$46,000) in revenue.
The resort features an intermediate trail, two beginner slopes, a snow tubing track, and a 30,000-square-meter play area for diverse snow activities, including a family-centric adventure zone.
"I'm a first-time skier, and the experience was fantastic. The beginner slopes here really suit beginners like me, " said Chen Kang, a visitor from Jingzhou.
Zhenzi Township, with an average elevation of 1,300 meters, has a strong agricultural tradition but in recent years has evolved into a hub for summer escapes, wellness, and skiing—a blend of agriculture and tourism.
Visitors can enjoy local delicacies at the energy replenishment station or at Jiuliantang Food Street just 100 meters away.

Convenient transport is providing another boost to Xingshan’s winter tourism economy. More than 5,000 passengers have passed through Xingshan Station on the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou high-speed railway each day since it opened in June 2022. In winter, ski enthusiasts from Wuhan, Yichang, Jingzhou and other areas use the line.
The ski economy in Zhenzi Township has created new opportunities and boosted local people’s incomes, with more than 100 B&Bs now operating in the township.
