On the morning of December 12, the Two Rivers-Six Reservoirs Interconnection Project in the urban area of Yichang was fully completed and officially began water conveyance.
Connecting the Dongshan Canal in Xiling District with the Tumen River in Yiling District, the interconnection project extends 6.45 kilometers through Yichang High-tech Zone, Xiling District, Wujiagang District, and Yiling District. It consists entirely of underground channels carved through mountains.

The project not only channels the water from Dongshan Canal (which originates from the Meiziya Reservoir) to refresh and supplement the Tumen River but also diverts water through four branch lines to Yichang’s six reservoirs—Meiziya Reservoir, Shiban Reservoir, Zhoujiachong Reservoir, Heihushan Reservoir, Badoushan Reservoir, and Zhoujiazui Reservoir.

With the completion of this project, the water systems of the Dongshan Canal, the Tumen River, and the six reservoirs in the urban area are now officially interconnected. This will provide an ecological water supplement of 46 million cubic meters annually to the urban area, offering a reliable water source for the development of the region along its course.
