The 3rd Overseas Shopping Festival kicked off in Yichang on Tuesday, racking up sales of over 1 million yuan (USD 140,000) in two days. Foreign trade projects worth over 100 million yuan (USD 14 million) were also inked.

Since 2021, the annual festival – which covers domestic, cross-border, and live e-commerce – provides an opportunity to promote local high-quality products globally while introducing foreign goods to Yichang.

The China (Hubei) Pilot Free Trade Zone Yichang Area and the Yichang Bureau of Commerce organize the festival.

This year’s edition featured four key activities: Yichang's second cross-border e-commerce industry summit, an Import and Export Commodity Supply and Marketing Promotion Conference, celebrity-assisted live streaming sales, and a talent training and selection meeting for cross-border e-commerce.

Participants in the Import and Export Commodity Supply and Marketing Fair included prominent Yichang enterprises like Eskonjac (一致魔芋), Qugu Int’l Agriculture Group (屈姑) and Hubei Hanway Ecological Agriculture Group (土老憨). Over 30 foreign trade enterprises and Yichang suppliers signaled their willingness to cooperate through the platform.

A variety of local products such as tea, food, and cosmetics were on display.

The Festival introduced a business film approach styled "celebrity + short film + local brands" to embed brands in film and TV skits. Deng Qi, the festival organizer, said that the aim was to promote Yichang's high-quality products globally.

Hong Kong film and TV star Li Guolin and internet celebrity Xiao Min were appointed "Yichang brand booster ambassadors." Alongside other e-commerce anchors, they conducted live domestic and international broadcasts. Total viewership reached 2 million, resulting in online and offline sales of over 1 million yuan (USD 140,000).
