“Hello guys, welcome to my studio. Zigui oranges are sweet and juicy.” At 10 am on November 8, Zhou Gongshou, an orange farmer in Wangjialing Village, started up his live stream.

Zhou, 67, is known for his loud voice and humor. In just a few days, he sold more than 1,000 boxes of oranges to buyers from across China. "Thanks to the county-level logistics distribution center, I can send oranges all over China right from my home," Zhou said.

Zigui is a high-quality orange production area located near the Three Gorges Reservoir. The county has a total orange planting area of 400,000 mu (26,667 hectares), which can produce about 1 million tons of oranges every year with an annual output value of 20 billion yuan (US$2.74 billion).

Zigui’s parcel delivery volume reached nearly 12 million pieces in 2022, however, due to its geographical disadvantage, transporting goods to the outside world is slow and costly.

This year, the Zigui County government has allocated more than 5 million yuan to upgrade its logistics system.

Now, Zigui has developed a logistics network comprising of one county-level distribution center, 12 township comprehensive service stations and 167 village-level distribution service stations.

Today, many Zigui farmers like Zhou have found success as live streaming hosts by leveraging this new logistics system to sell local goods all over China.
