Tourists flocked to Yichang’s major scenic areas during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday break from September 29 to October 6, according to the Yichang Culture and Tourism Bureau.

The Three Gorges Dam received 184,083 tourists; the Three Gorges Indigenous Scenic Area received 87,400 tourists; the Qingjiang River Gallery Scenic Resort received 97,300 tourists; and the Three Gorges Waterfall Scenic Area received 99,800 tourists. The Two Dams and One Gorge (Gezhouba Dam, Three Gorges Dam and Xiling Gorge) received a total of about 80,000 tourists; while nearly 80,000 people rode on the Yangtze River Night Cruise Tour.

The Bureau reported that the Three Gorges Dam reached its capacity limit and had to control the number of visitors to avoid overcrowding.

On the last day of the holiday, about 64,000 passengers passed through Yichang East Railway Station, a new single-day record.

Many tourists bought Yichang specialty products and souvenirs at the two official "Yichang Gifts" shops at Sanxia Airport Terminal 2 and Yichang Museum.

"Yichang Gifts" covers a range of categories, including leather carving, printmaking, tie-dyeing, Yichang IP products and sports products. Agricultural products such as tea, dried fish, and gastrodia elata (a kind of traditional Chinese medicine) are also popular with visitors.

Yichang Culture and Tourism Bureau launched micro vacation tours, car-driving tours, rural tours, seasonal tours, and study tours. The bureau also announced Yichang's "Top 10 Most Popular Tourist Spots" based on data provided by China’s leading travel platform Ctrip.com.

Counties and districts organized farmers' harvest festivals with activities such as picking vegetables and fruit, making ecotourism a popular choice.

Tourists bought many village products, such as cured meat, tea, mountain vegetables and specialty snacks.

Zhimao Road in Zigui County – with its mountains, oranges, rivers, fields and gorges – was the subject of multiple videos on Douyin.
