Tian Tao from Yichang has added the gold medal in the men's 96kg category at the 19th Asian Games to his impressive record.

In the final on October 5, Tian lifted a total of 390kg with a 180Kg snatch and a 210kg clean and jerk.

Tian's snatch performance was outstanding, with successful lifts of 170kg on the first attempt, 175kg on the second attempt, and a record-breaking 180kg on the third attempt, cementing top spot.

In the clean and jerk, he failed to lift 210kg at the first lift, succeeded at that weight in the second round, and failed to lift 216kg with his third lift.

However, his second in the clean and jerk and his overall total of 390kg secured him first place and the gold medal.

This is Tian’s second gold medal at the Asian Games.

At the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, Tian won his first gold in the men's 85kg weightlifting event, shattering the Asian Games records in both clean and jerk and total lifts.

Tian was born on April 8, 1994, in Changyang Tujia Autonomous County, Yichang City. He began his weightlifting journey at the age of 10. Demonstrating exceptional talent and dedication, he joined the Hubei Provincial Weightlifting Training Team when he was just 13.

In October 2011, aged 17, he rose to national prominence when he won the 77Kg category at the 7th National Intercity Games.

Tian stepped up to the 96kg category in 2018, and since then, he has been a force to be reckoned with in weightlifting. His list of accolades includes Olympic Champion and Asian Games Champion.
