Zigui County's tourist port begins operations

The interchange center at Zigui County's tourist port in Yichang City commenced operations Tuesday.
The introduction of this new center increases the annual possible river transportation capacity between Yichang and Chongqing to 2.4 million passengers.
The port is located in Maoping Town, near the Three Gorges Dam. It covers an area of more than 6300 square meters and had a total investment of 49.91 million yuan (US$6.8 million). The port, capable of docking 6 cruise ships, is projected to facilitate transportation for 3,000 passengers daily.
Zigui Port, one of the three key tourism ports in Hubei Province, along with Yichang and Wuhan, plays a vital role as a strategic point within the Yangtze River tourism economic belt.
