Yichang ensures 'new citizens' adequate housing

On September 8, Yichang City handed out 51 "indemnificatory rental housing units” over to their owners.
This project is the first government-subsidized rental housing project built by Hubei United Investment in Yichang, serving new citizens who work in the city but have no housing of their own yet.

The project is located in Yiling District, with convenient transportation and well equipped living facilities. The rooms are spacious and bright, coming furnished with sofas, air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, and smart door locks. There are two types of apartments, 118 square meters and 103 square meters, with a monthly rent of just 14 yuan (US$1.90) per square meter.
Mou, who just graduated from China Three Gorges University, is from the neighboring Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture and was attracted to Yichang by its talent policies. After hearing about the project, she was eager to learn more.
"My hope was that furniture and appliances would be available so I have fewer worries," Mou said.

Zhou, who is in the process of moving in, has just returned to Yichang from Shanghai. Focusing on quality of life, he compared several properties.
"The living environment is good and the facilities are complete. It is catered towards the younger generations,” Zhou explained when asked what made him choose.

At present, eligible applicants can use the online platform to inquire about the project, conduct online housing searches and apply. They can also consult a 24-hour online customer service line. The second batch of 79 suites will be completed in December.
In recent years, the net population of Yichang City has been growing, including imported talents, newly employed graduates and migrant workers.
