Yichang High-tech Zone allocates 800M to attract 50,000 talents

Yichang High-tech Industrial Development Zone will allocate 800 million yuan (US$109.5 million) over the next five years with the aim of attracting 50,000 talents to the zone, Yao Yingjiu, deputy director of its management committee, has announced recently.
Yichang High-tech Zone is one of China's 168 national high-tech industrial development zones and has both a free trade zone and bonded zone. It has attracted leading enterprises from various sectors, including Renfu Pharmaceutical, Huaqiang High-Tech, Angel Yeast, Pepsi, CATL-BRUNP, and Sunwoda Dongfeng. As a result, the zone has excelled in economic growth. In the first half of this year, the zone posted a 9.4 percent growth in GDP, a nearly 18 percent rise in industrial added value, and a more than 26 percent surge in fixed asset investment - all of which were the fastest among Yichang’s districts.

Now focusing on recruiting talent and fostering innovation, Yichang High-tech Zone is actively working towards attracting high-end professionals and enterprises. An annual budget of 18 million yuan has been allocated for talent subsidies, while 120 million yuan has been distributed over the past three years to reward scientific and technological innovations.
The High-tech Zone boasts the highest number of high-tech enterprises and technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises in the city. Moreover, with the number of effective invention patents per 10,000 people reaching 180, it stands as the area with the most resources for innovation, the most fruitful innovation outcomes, and the most vibrant innovation atmosphere within the city.
