Yichang announced that an NBC Universal tourism project will be built in Juanqiaohe Wetland Park.

Yichang City Development Group and a Chinese agency of NBC Universal will jointly invest 191 million yuan (US$26.3 million) for this project. The project, to be built in the wetland park in Dianjun District, broke ground in August 2023 and is expected to be completed before the 2024 Spring Festival.

This project will bring NBC Universal's leading animation IPs to Yichang, such as Kung Fu Panda, Minions, How to Train Your Dragon and Trolls. They plan to use this to create new cultural tourism experiences.

Between September 1 and 3, Universal Picture’s theme event Banana Day was held at Yichang’s Binjiang Park. Visitors at the Banana Day celebration were able to meet and interact with the Minions.

Yichang’s Three Gorges Dam and its stretch of the Three Gorges have been widely recognized as unparalleled world-class tourism destinations.

Xu Xun, general manager of NBC Universal's product and consumer experience business in China, said that Yichang is rich in resources and one of the most popular tourist destinations in China, and that there is a lot of room for cooperation.
