Following severe flooding caused by unprecedently heavy rain, the situation in Zhuozhou, Hebei province, is dire. A group of Yichang residents from faraway Hubei Province are in Zhuozhou taking part in disaster relief efforts.

In the evening of August 2, Wu Linbao, the General Manager of Zhi'e Property in Hubei, set off with a team of emergency rescue veterans. They took with them a motorboat, two kayaks, and five sets of life jackets.

They arrived in the heavily affected Diaowo Village in Zhuozhou at 10:30 am on August 3, after travelling through the night.

On arrival they put on their life jackets and boarded the motorboat, embarking on a door-to-door rescue mission. By 5:30 pm, they had evacuated 20 elderly people and children."When people are in trouble, support from all directions is needed. We won’t leave until the flood recedes," said Wu, after a sleepless night and a day's rescue work.

This is the third Yichang rescue team to arrive in Zhuozhou.

On August 1, eight members of Yichang Zanyou Emergency Rescue Service Center set out in three vehicles. By 6 pm on August 3, they had evacuated more than 80 people.

On August 2, 10 professionals from the Yichang Huahai Rescue Team, including five retired soldiers with rich experience in emergency rescue, also hurried to Zhuozhou.
