An injured golden eagle was rescued and finally returned to its natural habitat on July 19 thanks to the Yichang Municipal Bureau of Forestry and Parks.
In mid-June, a local man surnamed Wang spotted a weak bird stumbling along a forest road in Jiuwanxi Township, Zigui County. He promptly called the wildlife conservation department.
The bird turned out to be a young golden eagle, a protected bird in China.
Experts gave instructions on how to treat the eagle and then it was given rewilding training.
After three weeks of treatment and rehabilitation, the golden eagle was released and forestry staff watched with satisfaction as it soared back to freedom from a cliff in Zigui County.
