On the afternoon of July 17th, a young girl accompanied by her father placed four boxes of mineral water into the "care freezer" created for the community of Huancheng North Road, Xiling District, Yichang City. The cost of the water came from her own pocket.
This summer, the Huancheng North Road community launched the "Care Freezer for a Cool Summer" public welfare action plan. In the news, Hanhan saw people donate cold drinks to the “care freezer.” Her father told her that this was the community's way of caring for outdoor workers during times of hot weather.
Hanhan was deeply touched by this story and said that when she was sick, her neighbors would come to visit her and make donations for her family. She wanted to give back to her community in a similar way.
It turns out that Hanhan's father is Chen Zaixing, the "online car-hailing dad,” who gained widespread attention on the Internet a year ago.
Chen originally worked for Yichang Bus Group Co., Ltd. After his divorce, he took Hanhan to live together with his mother.
In September 2021, Hanhan was seriously ill, and the family owed a huge debt for the treatment. In order to take better care of his daughter, Chen had quit his day job and began driving an online car-hailing service to work toward paying off the debt. Hanhan wrote a letter and posted it on her dad's car, hoping to encourage passengers to leave a high rating.
In April 2022, a passenger who took Chen’s car posted the letter to social media.
"Hello everyone, I'm glad you can take my dad's car. My name is Hanhan and I am a very good elementary school student. Last September, I got seriously ill and was diagnosed with encephalopathy by doctors. My family spent more than 300,000 yuan on hospitalization for me to save my life, but the later rehabilitation treatment is still very long.
I live in a single-parent family with my dad, who quit his job to take care of me and earns me medicine and pays off the bills by running an online car-hailing business.
I hope you can give my daddy a favorable review when you get out of the car. Thank you!
I wish you all a safe trip and good health!"
The media reported Hanhan's story, and many caring people within in the community pitched in to help the family.
More than a year has passed, and Hanhan is actively cooperating with the treatment. She hopes to pass her love through the community care freezer.
