Dangyang releases promotional video clip

Dangyang is a county-level city 85km to the east of Yichang. It is one of the birthplaces of Chu culture and figures prominently in stories of the Three Kingdoms period.
It is the site of the Battle of Changbanpo that took place in the year 208. The stories of Guan Yu (160 – 220 AD), Zhang Fei (? – 221 AD) and other Three Kingdoms characters are rooted in this area.
The spirit of "righteousness" that characterizes the Three Kingdoms stories is valued by Dangyang people. Dangyang likes to style itself as "the Righteous City of China".
The city released a city promotional song and video clip during its Brand Promotion Week between June 29 and July 5. The “Dangyang on stage” video clip invited six representatives from different sectors to tell their Dangyang stories. Here is a summary of their stories.
Kang Eryi is the leader of the Dangyang water clearance and cleaning volunteer team. His team has grown as Dangyang has stepped up efforts to protect the local environment. The city has established an ecological protection model for water body management efforts.
Zhang Tao is the chairman of Hubei Guanyu New Material Technology, a company based in Dangyang which typifies the city’s success in the field of new energy.
Chen Tinghai, a 62-year-old farmer and grain & oil middleman from Hongguang Village, is a man of his word. In 2006, Chen’s long-term client, the owner of a local oil mill, disappeared, taking with him all the rapeseed Chen had sent to the mill but without paying Chen. Unwilling to transfer the 980,000 yuan (US$143,370) of losses back to the 210 farmer households from whom he had purchased the rapeseed, Chen took on the debt, pledging to pay back all the money. The effort took him 17 years. He has become a byword for being “faithful”.
Xiao Yang is an entrepreneur who returned to Dangyang from other cities. He has helped Dangyang become a trailblazer in "rural revitalization”.
He Zongyao is the curator of Yuxi Film Museum in Dangyang. Formerly a movie theater, Yuxi Film Museum now houses mobile movie projection equipment used over the past 40 years, making the museum an important component of Dangyang’s tourism and culture offer.
Zhang Xiaoxiao designed some of the old neighborhood renovation construction projects in Dangyang. Over the past three years, Dangyang has completed the transformation of 171 old neighborhoods, benefiting 12,000 residents.
