Yichang's foreign trade value exceeds 15 billion yuan in first five months

Yichang’s total value of foreign trade imports and exports amounted to 4.11 billion yuan (US$568.9 million) in May of this year. Of that total, 3.63 billion yuan was exported and 480 million yuan was imported, an increase of 43.7% over the same period last year.


The city's total figure for 2023 reached 15.68 billion yuan in the first five months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%. Private enterprises account for about 70% of the total value of imports and exports.

Among the export products, mechanical and electrical products account for the largest share at 1.84 billion yuan.

The top four trading partners with Yichang are ASEAN, India, EU and Korea.

In 2022, Yichang's GDP reached 550.269 billion yuan, an increase of 5.5%, with its four major industries being green chemicals, equipment manufacturing, food and beverage, and biomedicine. Among them, green chemicals and equipment manufacturing both achieved over 100 billion in scale.
