As the first of its kind to cross the Three Gorges reservoir area in China, the opening of the Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway has accelerated the flow of people, logistics and capital between Xingshan and the outside world.
Cao Hongwei, Party secretary of Xingshan County, said that Xingshan has been seeking tourism cooperation with cities and regions along the railway, including Shennongjia, Wushan, Wuhan, Zhengzhou and Chongqing, to share resources and create mutually beneficial relationships.
Wu Hao, deputy Party chief and head of the Xingshan government, said: “Xingshan is promoting recreational vacations in mountainous areas and tourism in the plains in order to create a regional tourism and recreation hub. Over the past year, visitors from cities along the railway, including Wuhan, Xiangyang, Chongqing, Zhengzhou and Nanyang, accounted for 55 percent of the total, nearly tripling the previous year."
Sanxia Daily’s Wan Longyun, Liu Jun and Fang Lingwan contributed to this report.
