Yangtze River Fish Science Exhibition Hall opens

The Yangtze River Fish Science Exhibition Hall opened at the Three Gorges Dam area on the occasion of the 23rd International Day for Biological Diversity.
The exhibition hall covers an area of 1,150 square meters, with five areas displaying different species of fish.
Constructed by the Yangtze Biodiversity Research Center of the Three Gorges Corporation, it will be open to research institutions and students.

On display is the origin of the Yangtze River, the conditions of the rare fish that live there, and the efforts and achievements of the Three Gorges Group in conserving the river’s biodiversity.

The Yangtze River Biodiversity Research Center is the largest living germplasm resource bank for Yangtze River fish in China, and has domesticated more than 120 species of fish in the Yangtze River, including the Chinese sturgeon and Yangtze sturgeon, which are under first-class national protection.

Researchers at the Yangtze River Biodiversity Research Center have designed a special breeding environment for each fish. They provide them with the most suitable living environment, and have also customized the bait according to the food habits of different species and feed them regularly to improve their domestication and survival rates.

The Yangtze Biodiversity Research Center continues to conduct in-depth research on biodiversity conservation and the sustainable utilization of biological resources in the Yangtze River Basin, so as to make significant breakthroughs and gain further expertise in breeding techniques for rare Yangtze fish species and protect biodiversity in the Yangtze River.
