The project is located in Yidu City, with a total planned area of 105.9 hectares. It will attract green and intelligent shipbuilding and supporting enterprises in the industrial chain to settle down in the area. The output value of ship assembly and supporting manufacturing is expected to reach more than 10 billion yuan.

The project will enhance the province's production capacity of green and intelligent shipbuilding, new type ship manufacturing and power charging. When completed, it will create a green and intelligent inland vessels industry cluster for Hubei.

The first and second phases of the project cover an area of 51.2 hectares and will mainly accommodate the relocated Damen Yichang Shipyard, Yichang Shipyard and the existing shipyards in Yidu. It is expected to be completed in 2025.

Damen Yichang Shipyard was established in 1998 by Yichang Shipyard and Damen Shipyards Group. In its 25 years of operation on Xiba Island, Xiling District, Yichang City, it has delivered 108 vessels of various types.

Its products include cargo ships, oil tankers, LNG bunkering vessels and many others. Most of the products are exported to more than 20 countries, including Holland, Germany, Sweden and UK.

Due to development needs, Damen Yichang Shipyard will be relocated to the new park. On the same day, the Damen Yichang Shipyard project started construction, with an investment of 1 billion yuan. After completion, the annual output value is expected to reach 1.2 billion yuan, achieve an export revenue of 150 million US dollars, and create 1,500 jobs.

Yichang launched 225 major projects in the second quarter, including three major projects worth billions of yuan, with a total planned investment of more than 140 billion yuan. In addition to the ship industrial park, two other projects are related to green new energy.
