Foreign trade reaches 5.5 billion yuan in first two months

In the first two months of 2025, Yichang's foreign trade totaled 5.51 billion yuan (US$758.7 million), with exports at 3.81 billion and imports at 1.7 billion. General trade dominated, making up nearly 90 percent (4.93 billion yuan). Trade through processing and bonded logistics amounted to 370 million yuan (6.6 percent) and 210 million yuan (3.7 percent), respectively.

Private enterprises accounted for 3.51 billion yuan. Yichang’s top trading partners were ASEAN countries (1.07 billion yuan), the European Union (770 million yuan), and the United States (600 million yuan).

Additionally, trade with Belt and Road Initiative countries reached 3.3 billion yuan, accounting for nearly 60 percent of the total, while trade with Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership member countries rose 4.2 percent to 1.82 billion yuan.

Primary exports include electromechanical products (600 million yuan), agricultural products (590 million yuan), and basic organic chemicals (520 million yuan). Primary imports include basic organic chemicals (300 million yuan, up nearly 5.5 times and accounting for 17.4 percent of total imports), electromechanical products (210 million yuan), and agricultural products (140 million yuan).
